Uses of benzene

  • As an industrial solvent for fats and oils, rubber, resins etc.
  • As a starting material for dyes, drugs, perfumes and explosives and polymers
  • For dry-cleaning of woollen clothes.
  • As a motor fuel along with petrol, under the name benzol.
